Looking into the various careers out there to be chosen from one comes across one that captures the attention. Education is a very brood subject but just what does it take in order to be one of these educators. That is what this memo is based on. Throughout this memo many important questions will be answered. What is the job like? How do you get ready? How much does this job pay? How many jobs are there? What’s in store for the future? The main purpose of this memo is to better inform over a great career opportunity.
What is this job like?
——-Teacher’s main focus is to educate children in the matters of reading, writing, math, and much more in order to get them ready them for the future. In order to become a teacher one must perform many tasks. Specific tasks include:
.Adapting teaching methods to meet students needs and interests
.Administering tests and interpreting results
.Assigning and grading class work and homework
.Attending meetings, conferences, and workshops
.Establish and enforce rules
.organize and establish material
Besides just specific tasks a teacher must as well obtain special skills in order to be successful. These skills include instructing, speaking, reading comprehension, learning strategies, and active listening. The abilities also are included in this which includes oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, speech clarity, speech recognition, written comprehension, and written expression.
How do you get started?
In order to teach at a public school a teacher must receive a Teachers certificate. This certificate is then seen as a license to teach. The type of license is determined by the grade you are allowed to teach. A college degree is also required. Like in many other careers you must take classes to in education and practice teaching with the help of an experience teacher. A test in reading, writing and other subjects must be passed in order to teach.
How much is paid?
Many say that the pay isn’t good yet the numbers are not really that low.
-kindergarten teachers: $34,880-$56,370 a year
-middle half of elementary: $36,680-$58,170 a year
-middle half of high school teachers: $38,360-$61,090 a year
There are also those who get paid extra in each category a year.
-kindergarten teachers: $71,410
-middle half of elementary: $72,720
-middle half of high school: $76,100
According to the articles there were 4 million jobs for teachers in 2006. Elementary school teachers are what there are more of now fallowed by the high school teachers.
What’s in the future?
The articles state that the opportunity for teachers in the future will vary from good to excellent. The number of opportunities is expected to increase.
In conclusion the idea of becoming a school teaches isn’t that bad. The knowledge one must obtain isn’t out of the ordinary. Like many other careers there are test and training required to become a great teacher. The pay isn’t half that bad. As for the future it seems to look promising.
